More kitchen pictures in gallery-4. This time it's Kate's kitchen getting a makeover. The refrigerator has been relocated and replaced and the plan is to add cabinets and counter to wrap around the north wall. The cabinets will all be painted white and counter-tops will all be butcher block. Check back occasionally to see the progress.

The kitchen project at Annie and Adam's house is near completion. New floor, cabinets, counters and travertine tile backsplash has transformed their kitchen. All that remains to be done is some trim and paint. See construction pictures here.

  • 7/30/07 - Westside Builders is nearing completion of their project to rebuild a house that narrowly escaped a date with the wrecking ball last fall. The house at 513 Fourth Street in Ann Arbor's Old West Side was built around 1900 and had fallen into a state of disrepair. Bill & Chris and their crew stripped it to the studs and joists and have rebuilt it to be better than new. See some great before and after pictures and the story behind the project at: www.WestsideBuilders.com
Update- The house was completed and sold in December '07. Congratulations to the new owners and to Westside Builders for a job well done.
  • 4/14/07 - With three days in Ludington, the sun was out for just a short time on Friday so I took the opportunity to get some pictures with my new camera. The Kodak p712 is very similar to my previous DX7590, but with higher resolution, longer zoom, optical stabilization and a hot shoe for an external flash. I've not had enough time yet to get familiar with all it's features, but take a look at a few 'point and shoot' pictures of the Lake Michigan shoreline.
  • 4/2/07 - Adam had the RufRoadMotorsports Focus #515 at the Rallycross in Fowlerville, MI last weekend. There are lots of pictures and some videos in the gallery at their website.
  • 3/9/07- Darren and Carrie Remsburg are proud new parents of Taylor Marie Gurnee Remsburg who was born Wednesday night. Look for details in the Discussion Forum as they become available.
See pictures in the photo gallery!
  • 3/6/07- Most have already heard that Jane and Ace lost their beloved pet 'Archie' last weekend to an untreatable spinal tumor. I have assembled a gallery of photos to help remember Archie.
  • There is a new photo gallery feature at EmeraldAve. Implemented first to display pictures related to John's shoulder blog, we've also got a few pictures of a new light fixture installed at Kate and Dick's house.
See pictures of John Causland and click the Photo Gallery button above to see pictures of the light fixture and recently added pictures from Oxford, England and from San Fransisco.
  • Washington Home & Garden magazine
  • Friday 12/01/06
I recently got a copy of the issue of Washington Home & Garden magazine that featured Carrie & Darren's wedding. The wedding took place in June of 2005, and the article was published in the Summer 2006 issue.
Use this link to visit the whgmag.com site to see the article and be sure to notice the photographer credit.

  • Recipes
There have been requests for recipes for Christmas cookies and other family favorites. Here are a few to start the list:
    • Kate makes cheesecake bars every year at Christmas time.
Here's the recipe for White Chocolate Cheesecake Squares
    • Here are a couple recipes from Betsy
      • Everyone asks for this peanut butter soup. The recipe calls for chicken, but Betsy makes it vegetarian with a chicken substitute called Quorn.
      • For those that enjoy the peanut butter soup, she suggests this recipe for Spicy Peanut Chicken & Rice skillet dish. Again the chicken can be replaced by a vegetarian substitute.
    • Kate has provided her recipe for vegetarian Pastitsio which is another family favorite.
We'll add more recipes as they are submitted.
